The Annabelle Story
This idea was created out of a need in the community. If you live in Osseo, you know how special this little town is. If you aren’t, you will soon find out what a hidden treasure this is. Our young family moved to Osseo in 2017 and we were so excited to have shops and restaurants within walking distance to our house. We loved the idea of being able to walk up and grab breakfast or drinks at any time. We quickly noticed that there was a gap in the services offered here and for a couple of years we watched as the older community would run across 81 to get to the nearest coffee shop. For them, I knew we needed something better. What Osseo didn’t have was a charming coffee house and a delicious bakery. Cue the Annabelle House. During Covid 2020 we dreamt up this idea a little more and after hosting a few successful pop-ups through Ashley Skeie, we knew we were ready to make this next dream happen.
The Annabelle House is named after Ashley’s Grandma, Annabelle. I wish everyone would have had the chance to meet here. Grandma Anne’s house was the best place to go- every holiday and gathering was made extra special at her place. She always went above and beyond to make everyone special (and there were a lot of us). We named the cafe after her not only to honor her memory but to also create that sense of home here at the coffee house. Our dream for this place is to be “home” for the community and for our team to be like Annabelle, to welcome all of our guests in with a smile, to get to know our customers, learn their favorite drinks, and send them off with happy hearts and full belly’s like Grandma always did.
When walking through our space you’ll see framed photos of Grandma Anne. We hope that with one look at these photos, you’ll feel how special she was. You will also notice her famous quote, “I’ll tell you when you’re good”. At Grandma’s you could never turn down food or drinks with a simple, “I’m good Grandma!” she would quickly reply with a, “I’ll tell you when you’re good”. A line we will always remember.
The Annabelle House is a place to help grandma’s legacy live on. The Annabelle House is about family. Whether it is our employees, our business partners, or our customers, we want everyone who walks in these doors to walk out feeling like they are a part of the Annabelle House family. It is a place where we can take those ideals that grandma instilled in all of us, and live them out daily. It is a place where we can serve others and serve our community. It is a place where we can gather and laugh together. It is a place where we can genuinely take care of one another when it’s truly needed, and sometimes just because it’s the right thing to do. It is a place where people can come and feel seen, feel like they matter, and most importantly know they are loved and appreciated for who they are.
